IDOC deals with cases within the Commission only. OLAF passes on cases requiring disciplinary action to IDOC.

    Comment ‎L'IDOC et l'Office européen de lutte antifraude (OLAF) sont complémentaires: tous deux mènent des enquêtes internes indépendantes au sein de la Commission.-L'OLAF intervient lorsqu'il existe de graves soupçons de faute professionnelle dans toutes les institutions, tous les organes et toutes les agences de l'UE, notamment dans les affaires ayant un impact financier sur le budget de l'UE. -L'IDOC traite les autres cas de faute professionnelle et les affaires portant atteinte à la réputation de la Commission, uniquement à l'intérieur de la Commission. L'OLAF transmet à l'IDOC les affaires nécessitant une action disciplinaire.
